Owned and operated by David and Denise Carswell, Princeville Ranch Adventures offers guided ziplining, kayaking and hiking tours on 2,500 acres of private lands on Kauai’s scenic North Shore.
The company’s “Zip N’ Dip Expedition” provides thrillseekers a combination of eight soaring ziplines, one suspension bridge and a full hour at a hidden swimming hole with a picturesque waterfall. Clip in and glide like a native bird over magnificent valleys and streams. Walk through the treetops and over a waterfall on a suspension bridge. This adventure gives visitors a unique bird’s eye view of this North Shore jungle paradise. Remarked one participant, a visitor from California: “The dilemma is, do you want to go really fast, just for the thrill of it? Or do you want to go as slow as possible, to enjoy the magnificent views?”
The “Jungle Waterfall Kayak Adventure” begins with a short hike down to a secluded mountain stream, where you’ll hop aboard a kayak and leisurely paddle your way through a lush tropical rainforest to a twin waterfall. This four-hour, off-the-beaten-path activity lets you journey to Kauai’s lush interior. Enjoy swimming under the waterfalls, let your worries drift away while floating on an inner tube, and enjoy a delicious picnic lunch. This is the area’s only guided kayaking adventure to a waterfall.
Finally, hikers are advised to check out Princeville Ranch Adventures’ “Waterfall Excursion,” an exhilarating hike that offers breathtaking mountain and ocean views. Take the company’s “adventure mobile” and ride to the trailhead, then hike through the pasturelands to a lookout with sweeping views of the ocean, mountain and North Shore. Along the way, knowledgeable guides share their insights on the jungle’s flora and fauna. The hike continues on to a tropical waterfall, where you can enjoy a picnic lunch, swimming and a relaxing “hydro-massage!” Another short trek leads you to another swimming hole, where you can dive, float and frolic to your heart’s content!
Reservations must be made in advance and secured with a credit card. For the “Jungle Waterfall Kayak Adventure,” guests must be at least five years old and in good physical condition. For the “Zip N’ Dip Expedition,” participants must be at least 12 years of age and weigh between 80 and 280 pounds. All guides are trained in CPR and First Aid.
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes (hiking boots or tennis/running shoes), sunscreen, raingear, mosquito repellant and a hat. If you plan to swim, bring a swimsuit and towel.
